During an interview with Rachel Nichols on Dec. 13, Charles Barkley revealed that he and Michael Jordan haven’t spoken to each other in over 10 years. During that time, the two enjoyed a frank and forthright relationship.
Charles and Michael were both big names in the game during the early 90s. They had six championships together. In the early 2000s, Barkley retired from the Houston Rockets and returned to television, signing a deal with TNT. He was expected to make nine figures. But the deal hasn’t worked out as planned.
As the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, Michael Jordan hasn’t had the best of times. His team hasn’t made the playoffs in six seasons. The franchise hasn’t won a championship since 2004.
Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan’s relationship is not perfect. There have been a few minor arguments, but nothing major. They’re both still competitors in the future. However, there are no guarantees in a business.
The best thing about the TNT deal is that Barkley and Jordan will be able to do more for the community. Barkley has big dreams for the show. He hopes that Jordan can help lead the Hornets to the promised land. He believes that success has given Jordan confidence.
The best part is that Jordan has a chance to show the world what he’s got. If he does, he can retire in style. While it’s doubtful he’ll make it to the NBA Finals, he can hope to make the playoffs.
