Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the troops of Ukraine involved in Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine.
The ministry stated via Telegram that the Russian Military Head flew through the zones of troop deployment and checked advanced positions for Russian units within the area of special military operations.
Moscow describes the invasion of Ukraine as a special military operation to “demilitarize” and “denazify its neighbor.” It is a unprovoked act de conquest, according to Kyiv and its allies.
According to the ministry, Shoigu met troops at “command posts” and “on the frontline.” It was unclear when and if Shoigu visited Ukraine, however.
The statement included a short video that showed Shoigu riding in a military helicopter, and some aerial shots of vacant swathes of land.
This announcement is made a day following a meeting between Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and top officials, including Shoigu. They sought proposals for how Russia should conduct its military campaign against Ukraine.
This conflict is Europe’s most deadly since World War Two. It has left millions homeless and killed thousands of people.
