The daughter of a Thai King remains in unconsciousness for weeks following her collapse

Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha, 44, was unconscious for more than three weeks following her collapse due to a cardiac problem. A palace statement provided an update about the condition of the potential heir to Thailand’s throne.

According to the statement released by the palace on Saturday, Maha Vajiralongkorn’s eldest son lost consciousness on Dec. 15, after suffering severe heart arrhythmia due to inflammation from a mycoplasma virus infection.

According to the palace, the “overall condition” of the princess is “that she remains unconscious.”

It stated that doctors continue to give medicine to patients and use medical equipment to help them function properly. They also prescribe antibiotics and monitor their condition.

She is among three sons of King Vajiralongkorn, and has formal titles. This makes her eligible to inherit the country’s throne as a result of a palace succession law.

Although the king has not yet designated an heir, there is no formal discussion about the possibility of the princess inheriting the throne.

As a lawyer, Princess Bajarakitiyabha has been a Thai ambassador to Austria and Slovenia. She also served in positions with the Attorney General’s Office, Royal Security Command, and as Thai ambassador at the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

On December 7, 1978, she was born. She is Princess Soamsawali, the first wife of the King.
